The Water Action Plan Committee (WAPC) conference call began at 1:00 p.m. The main topic of discussion was finalization of the Water Action Plan for submittal to the Governance Committee for approval at their August 3, 2000, meeting.
The WAPC Chair identified the only comments provided to date regarding the May 30, 2000, draft Water Action Plan, were provided by Brian Barels of the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD). NPPD's comments and the State of Nebraska's information regarding the change in project mix with the associated footnotes, as discussed at the June Governance Committee meeting, have been provided to Boyle Engineering.
Next, the WAPC discussed general comments regarding the draft Water Action Plan. The need to revise the table headings in the Water Action Plan Summary Table (Table VI-1, page 106) to be more descriptive was identified. In addition, the text in footnote number 7 is incomplete. It was noted the table was developed using Microsoft Excel, then incorporated into Microsoft Word. When the Microsoft Word file was transmitted to the WAPC Chair for distribution, the text in the first row of the table headings and footnote number 7 was truncated. This situation will be corrected.
Nebraska's redraft of the process to advance projects was discussed. It was noted the heading for this section should be changed from "I. Process" to "II. Process". The need to retain the process flow chart in this section was also questioned. Revisions to the flow chart are needed, if left in this section. Prior to the call, Colorado had faxed hand written comments on Nebraska's process dated July 13, 2000. It was decided that Nebraska would revise their process based on Colorado's comments. Nebraska (Jim Cook), Colorado (Kent Holsinger & Wendy Weiss) and the WAPC Chair will discuss the revisions to the process during a conference call on July 21 at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time. Colorado was asked to send copies of their comments to all WAPC members. Any comments regarding the process should be provided to Mr. Cook by July 20.
Following the July 21 call, the process will be redrafted and distributed to the WAPC members on Monday, July 24 for review. Another conference call will be held on Friday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time. The WAPC Chair will make arrangements for the conference call and notify the WAPC members. The objective of the meeting will be to prepare the Water Action Plan to be submitted to the Governance Committee for approval at their August 3 meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
