The Water Management Committee, chaired by John Lawson of the Bureau of Reclamation, has conducted a basinwide study of potential water conservation and supply projects. The Committee is also coordinating each state's development of a means to track new water depletions or accretions to ensure mitigation of impacts from new water diversions and proper crediting for water conservation. The Water Action Plan Committee, chaired by John Lawson of the Bureau of Reclamation, is developing a draft Water Action Plan for review and approval by the Governance Committee. Once approved, the Water Action Plan, along with the three State projects (Pathfinder Modification - Wyoming, Tamarack Plan - Colorado, and Lake McConaughy Environmental Account - Nebraska), will serve as the water component of the Governance Committee's proposed program to be evaluated by Platte River Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Office as part of the Programmatic EIS. The Land Committee, cochaired by Vernon Nelson and Rhodell Jameson (both local landowners), is developing guidelines for land habitat management, leasing, and acquisition. The committee will work closely with local communities and landowners to determine the most appropriate ways to cooperatively achieve the habitat goals. See minutes from past meetings.
